Janet Flora is the recipient of Willow Review Award for her essay, "The Goodbye Ceremony." Other creative nonfiction has appeared in The Yalobusha Review, Westview, Pennsylvania English, and The Writers Post Journal.

The Hawai'i Pacific Review solicited her short fiction "It's Not What You Think." Other fiction has appeared in The New Orleans Review, The Portland Review, NDQ, The Hurricane Review, and other journals.

In addition she works as a feature writer and reporter for several weekly and monthly publications. Her features include: lifestyle, health and beauty, review and profiles. She holds an MFA in writing from the New School, she teaches for Gotham Writers' Workshop, and works privately as a consultant and writing coach. She lives in New York City and Sag Harbor, with her two cats, Felix and Elmo. She is working on finishing her first novel.
